Brain activity and appetite research

We are investigating whether walking influences our appetite hormone levels, and whether exercise-induced changes in the hormones correlate with perceptions of appetite, nutritional intake and brain activity in individuals varying in weight status.

We are looking for:

  • People aged 18 to 49 years with a BMI greater than 25 kg/m2.
  • People aged 50 to 60 years with a BMI between 18.5 kg/m2 and 24.9kg/m2.

This exciting study involves four visits to º£½ÇÉçÇø's NCSEM:

  • A treadmill test
  • Smell and taste tests
  • Blood samples
  • fMRI scan of the Brain (functional magnetic resonance imaging).
  • Three pizzas to eat before each main trial visit
  • Pasta to eat during the main trial visits
  • £60 Amazon voucher for participants who complete all main trial visits (to cover time and travel costs).

If you would like more information about this study, or would like to take part, please feel free to contact me via email.
