The benefits of joining the University and College Union

Who are we?

  • º£½ÇÉçÇø University UCU (LUCU) is a trade union branch representing and acting on behalf of staff who work at º£½ÇÉçÇø University.
  • Our branch is based in º£½ÇÉçÇø and covers both the º£½ÇÉçÇø and the London campuses of the University.
  • We offer our members help and advice on employment, legal and health and safety matters, education and training opportunities and welfare support.
  • LUCU actively campaigns on issues such as workload, equality, casualisation, and fair pay.
  • We represent staff in negotiations with senior management on a whole range of issues both locally and nationally, including pensions, pay, and terms and conditions of employment.

What are we doing right now?

  • Fighting for an improved London Weighting Allowance for our members based on our London campus.
  • Having worked with HR to improve the LU casual worker guidelines, we now await a report from HR on any contract improvements revealed to be necessary.
  • Working on a revised sickness absence policy with HR.
  • Having gained LUCU representation on Project Enable, Project Expectations, EDI Operations and Health & Safety Committees, we continue to push for LUCU representation on other key projects and committees which impact the working lives of our members.

Why should you join us?

Over 120,000 of your colleagues have chosen to belong to UCU - the largest union and most effective voice for people like you working in post-school education sector.
