Papin Prizes now open for nominations

The national awards that recognise and celebrate the work of technicians in higher education are now open for 2025 nominations, with a new award for Apprentice and another for Sustainability announced.

The Papin Prizes are dedicated to celebrating the very best technical staff and teams in academia and research and applications are now being encouraged from individuals who work with technicians.

Ten Papin Prizes will be presented at the UK Higher Education Technicians Summit (HETS), which is taking place on 9 July 2025 at the Leonardo Conference Centre in Leicestershire, across the following categories: 

  • Apprentice
  • Contribution to Knowledge Exchange
  • Contribution to Research
  • Contribution to Teaching
  • Excellence in Sustainability
  • Infrastructure and Facilities
  • Best Newcomer
  • Outreach/Community
  • Technical Team
  • The Professor Lord Bhattacharyya Lifetime Achievement Award

Applications are open across the ten categories until 31 January 2025.
