Eligibility Criteria
The LUDUS Gold programme exists to support high achieving students from backgrounds which are underrepresented in higher education. To ensure that the programme fulfils its aims, places will only be offered to students who meet the eligibility criteria outlined below.
Students must meet聽at least one of聽the following criteria:
Live in an area of socio-economic deprivation
This is defined as living in an area more deprived than at least 80% of neighbourhoods in England (IMD Quintile 1, Deciles 1-2) from Index of Multiple Deprivation data, based on the home postcode indicated in your UCAS application. To find out if your home postcode would be considered, you can use the鈥�.
To interpret the explorer tool, hovering over a postcode on the scale of deprivation will tell you what % of neighbourhoods it is more or less deprived than, from the overall IMD rankings. Visually, your postcode will sit in one of the first two, dark blue boxes.
You are currently, or have previously, been known to be eligible for Free School Meals
You must have been eligible for Free School Meals in the last 6 years. This will be verified by your Teacher Reference listed on your application.
Time spent in care
Students with care experience are defined differently by Local Authorities, Student Finance and the University.
You have care experience if you have spent time living with foster carers under local authority care, in residential care (e.g. a children’s home), looked after at home under a supervision order, or in kinship care (looked after by relatives or friends). You can learn more about this .
AND meet all of the following:
- Predicted/achieved 5 GCSEs grades 9-5
- Predicted/achieved a minimum of grade 4 in GCSE Maths and English Language
- Attendance at state school/college and Year 12/1st year of college when applying
- UK fee paying student (or expect to be upon applying to university)
