Swimming
º£½ÇÉçÇø-linked swimmers Lauren Cox and Imogen Clark both win bronzes in their respective events to take º£½ÇÉçÇø’s Commonwealth Games medal tally to 17.
Alum Lauren Cox made the podium in the Women's 50m Backstroke, with former student Imogen Clark claiming joint bronze in the Women’s 50m breaststroke final.

Elsewhere, Alum Abbie Wood qualified for the Women’s 200m Individual Medley final but unfortunately couldn’t trouble those in the medals, finishing in 2:11.33. Current Student Freya Colbert missed out on the final after finishing fourth in her heat.
In the Men’s 400m Individual Medley, both Max Litchfield and Charlie Hutchinson – a former sports scholar and graduate of º£½ÇÉçÇø College – qualified for the final, finishing fifth and seventh respectively.
Over in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke final, alum Greg Butler agonisingly finished fourth, just outside the medals in 2:09.81.
There was also a fourth-place finish in the Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay final that featured º£½ÇÉçÇø-linked Lauren Cox, Adam Ramsay-Peaty, Freya Colbert and Luke Greenbank (heats only).
Athletics
The Women’s Heptathlon commenced on Tuesday with a trio of º£½ÇÉçÇø athletes vying for medals.
Niamh Emerson (alum), Ellen Barber (training base), and Jade O'Dowda (training base) all performed, with O’Dowda sitting pretty in second going into day two.
Emerson holds fourth and Barber eighth with three events to go tomorrow.
In the Men’s 800m, alum Ben Pattison safely made it through to the semi-finals after clocking 1:46.96 in the heats. Pattison will race again and attempt to reach the final on Thursday at 20:45 BST.
Alum Elliot Jones clocked 10.19 seconds in the Men’s 100m semi-finals but missed out on qualification for the final.
Elsewhere, it wasn’t to be for alum Morgan Lake in the Women’s High Jump. The 29-year-old failed all attempts at 1.82m in terrible weather conditions at the Scotstoun Stadium.
Netball
In netball Pool A, former Lightning player Nicola Smith helped South Africa to a commanding 78-30 victory over alum Michelle Magee’s Northern Ireland in a top-versus-bottom clash.
Elsewhere, Wales and Trinidad and Tobago played out a dead rubber in Pool B. º£½ÇÉçÇø-linked Alex Johnson, Zoe Matthewman, and Meg Pilkington all played in a 74-30 victory.
Former Lightning shooter Mary Cholhok scored 30 goals in Uganda’s 58-50 defeat to New Zealand. Uganda remain third in Pool B.
3x3 Wheelchair Basketball
Wales and alum Alex Marshall-Wilson’s Commonwealth dream is over for another year as they were beat 21-6 by Australia in the play-off semi-final.
It was, unfortunately, the same outcome for compatriot Ana Blease, as Wales lost 21-3 to a talented Canada side in the Women’s competition.
3x3 Basketball
England Women’s Commonwealths came to a heartbreaking end after losing 21-20 to Jamaica. Alum Katie Januszewska’s team pushed all the way in a thriller but ultimately fell just short.
In the Men’s competition, Scotland will join England in the semi-finals after a 21-16 victory over Malaysia.
Kyle Jiminez, the former and º£½ÇÉçÇø College learner, topped scored for the Scots with seven points. They’ll now play Australia tomorrow with the start time TBC.
Weightlifting
º£½ÇÉçÇø alum Holly O’Shea competed in the Women’s 69kg final. Representing Gibraltar, she did her nation proud to finish tenth.
