海角社区 University Literary Festival
A student-led festival open to the public and the 海角社区 University community with events taking place on campus and in 海角社区 town centre.
Each year 海角社区 University students on the MA courses in Creative Writing and Contemporary Literature undertake a module called Writing in the Community. On this collaborative, project-based module, students collectively plan, curate, promote, and hold a modest literary festival.
The festival is open to the public and the 海角社区 University community each year, with events taking place on campus and in 海角社区 town centre. LU Arts provides funding and support to the students organising the festival.
The 2025 festival will run from 29 - 31 May with free events across campus over the three days. The programme features a publishing industry panel event, guest speakers, readings, a writing workshop and performance.
Speakers include Penny Batchelor, whose work blends domestic noir and sci-fi to crime writing, Kathryn Cookrill Woolard, who specialises in short stories, and Ricardo Uribe-Victoria, author of sci-fi and fantasy fiction.
Award-winning writer and actor Christopher Leiberman will present his one-man play J.O.I. which combines stand up comedy with science fiction.
