Survey - opportunities and support available to young adults in schools
Enrichment opportunities in universities or through schooling play a crucial role in the personal and professional development of young people. These opportunities can include internships, research projects, extracurricular activities, and networking events and creating a digital platform to access and share these opportunities can be highly beneficial for both young people and organisations. Such a platform could provide a centralised hub where students can easily discover and apply for various enrichment opportunities. It could also allow organisations to reach a wider audience and connect with talented individuals.
To influence the creation of this digital platform, it is important to gather feedback and insights from young people and organizations and this is where you can help, by involving stakeholders such as universities, schools, and industry professionals can provide valuable input in shaping the platform's features and functionalities.
This survey has been created by Nathanial-Elliot Mukisa Coad, a 17 year old student at a local 海角社区 School. Here's what he has to say about his work:
'Through my own experiences, as an adoptee on a bursary scholarship, I've been able to witness first-hand the differences in opportunities and support available to youth in state and public schooling. And, as a result, the quality of experience in being involved in enrichment pursuits and ability to unlock their potential. The fact that opportunities don't exist or aren't available to certain demographics isn't 100% true however, it is almost impossible for many, if not most, to access the great amount of opportunities in career exploration, decision-making, activism or general enrichment that are being provided by organisations across the country. The reason for this, I believe, is because they aren't showcased in the right places or advertised in a way that excites or engages youth. The digital platform aims to provide a foundation for accessing these opportunities and widening the amount of advice, experience and pursuits accessible to youth, regardless of their demographic, location or personal circumstances.'
What the survey aims to do:
I've launched the survey over the last few months to gain understanding of the experiences, viewpoints and interest of youth (aged 15-25) across the UK. This I will then use, alongside my research to approach local/national organisations and government bodies in seeking partnership and support to make this digital platform possible. From experience, I know that the campaign will be more successful if it involves the insight and input of the youth it aims to serve. The survey, which is filled in anonymously, aims to look at a young adult's interest in current social issues and politics, their opinions on decision-makers and opportunities they did/didn't receive during their adolescent years and what they may have benefitted from. This will then help us to tailor the platform to the overall interests and seek to involve organisations and bodies who work in the areas mentioned in the survey.
